1. Classroom Discussion
Discuss how medicine has changed since medieval times and what would be the role of a midwife in modern times.

2. Watch a Movie
Review information about the PBS American Experience film, A Midwife's Tale, the story of Martha Ballard who was a midwife and healer in the 18th century. Visit www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/midwife and www.dohistory.org.

3. Explore CareerConnect®
Search the Mentor database on the AFB CareerConnect® web site and identify jobs in the medical field being done by individuals with vision loss. They are numerous!

4. Talk with Visually Impaired Nurses
Talk with AFB CareerConnect mentors who are blind or visually impaired nurses and find out how they do their jobs. (Yes, it can be done!) Don't forget to first register for free as a CareerConnect user in order to send them an e-mail.
