Henry is a slave. When he is a young boy his master tells him he must go be his son's slave. His new master has him work in a tobacco factory. One day Henry meets Nancy, another slave. They fall in love and get permission to be married and live together, even though they have different masters. One day Nancy and their children are sold. Henry is very sad. He wants his freedom. He asks Dr. Smith, a white man who does not like slavery, to help him. Dr. Smith and James put Henry in a big wooden box and address it to someone in Philadelphia. After 27 hours Henry's box is opened and he is greeted by four men in his new home of Philadelphia.
